Quality Concrete & Materials Co., Ltd. ("Quality" or the "Company") is a leading ready-mixed concrete and materials supplier headquartered in Beaumont, Texas.  The Company operates 10 ready-mixed concrete plants, two material distribution yards and three pug mills primarily serving the Southeast and Central Texas regions.  Quality produces in excess between 1 million to 2 million tons of aggregates per year for internal and third-party use through its material yards.

Transaction Results

GulfStar Group successfully structured the sale of Quality Concrete & Materials Co., Ltd. to Knife River Corporation, a subsidiary of MDU Resources Group, Inc. (NYSE: MDU).  The transaction closed on September 5th, 2007.  Quality will become part of Knife River Corporation, the construction materials and mining subsidiary of MDU Resources.  The Company's founder will continue to lead the company, which will now operate under the Knife River brand as Knife River - East Texas Division.
